If you have a 'strong' planet, it usually means that the planet is found in its natural Sign or House placement. Or these planets are found to be 'exalted' which means that the planetry energies harmonize/interact well with the zodiac sign at play (e.g. Moon in Taurus is considered a 'strong' placement - exalted - as Taurus, a strong stubborn fixed sign, stabilizes the erratic movements of the Moon).
E,g, If you have Mars in Aries, this is a favorable position as Mars is the ruler of Aries and this bestows a lot of gusto and aggression in helping the native to initiate and get what he/she wants in life. Alternatively, Mars in Capricorn is also considered a 'strong' placement as it is exalted in this sign. Here, the native has much determination and tenacity to see a project through to the end while it has begun.
