Yes, I was. In fact, 5 Retrograde planets in all, including Mercury.
Well, the energy from a Retrograde planets always forces the individual to turn inwards, to learn to derive strength and awareness from the inside rather than external forces.
With Mercury Retrograde, I find that I always think through my words carefully before I say them and if I'm unsure or hesitant in any way, then sometimes I'd rather keep quiet than say anything at all. I have always tended to have a more cautious and skeptical approach to life.
When I was younger, I didnt like to talk much and sometimes, words and thoughts didnt come easily to me. Some with natal MR may have difficulty with reading/writing, or been taught to communicate in a different language from those used at home. Personally, the results for me are an extensive vocabulary acquired and multi-linguistic skills.
