Tarot readers..When you do readings do you follow your instinct..?!
Question: ...or do you follow the meanings that books give?
For example, I drew one card only, thinking of someone's feelings towards me. I got the Lovers reversed. My gut says, this guy is completely unaware that there could be any possibility that a romantic relationship could evolve between us. At present he's blind when it comes to me as a potential lover, but there's promise (sort of) that he could change his mind later on. I mean if it was a lost cause, I wouldn't get a card like the Lovers. I could have got..dunno Justice? :P
My books though talk of jealousy, immaturity in love, one sided love, possessiveness...I prefer these meanings but should I trust them?

I have read the tarot for years, I'm 28, been reading since 12...
LOL I have no idea why, but I was given a deck and started reading naturally...
When I read someone's Tarot, which is allot, not being arrogant ;)...
I don't go by the cards pictures most of the time, sometimes I do, but I feel Emotion coming off them... and tell them what I feel.
So yes, I understand completely what you are saying...
and feeling...
For example: Many times The Devil card...
I feel an accident and see a vision, hard to explain...
or the Tower card to me can mean Death, Death can mean Death, but amongst other things as well...
Once off the 5 of wand, I picked up a child sick and it was no good news and then I felt an emotion like death... and I didn't say anything, I don't believe that kind of emotion is for me to say, but it happened...
I have felt marriages through the lovers, though usually 10 of cup... &c.

It is important to understand the symbols of the different cards. But in order to interrpret which of the meanings apply in a particular situation or how the cards combine in a particular spread, instincts are manditory.
Also, objectivity is necessary. Reading for yourself and reading for others is not the same thing. Reading for loved ones is not the same as reading for strangers. A reading will not be effective if you go into it wanting a particular outcome. I suggest you pay for a professional reading.
edit... Well, instincts are important in being read too. I'd suggest staying away from readrs who have big flashy signs in front of there homes. Try anew age bookstore. They should have a reader or be able to suggest one.
more... I'd be suspicious of any reader who says they have to have the person physically present. The physical body has nothing to do with it.
ok... this is getting old. Who's the dumb a$$ who keeps giving me thumbs down? Just because you have no idea what I'm talking about doesn't mean that I don't. Step away from the screen and go read a book. Any book. You might accidentally learn something.

To follow your intuition allows your clairvoyant nature to grow. Make sure that it isn't you ego self wanting to be heard, but practice will tell you which inner voice is which.
