The vertex in astrology deals with a point of destiny or fate. Also, it has long been said that the sign in which ones vertex falls is the sign that will save your life, either metaphorically or literally. When ever you see someone "turn their life around", the vertex played a role there. If someone helped them then that person would be whatever the other person's vertex is in. My mother's vertex is in capricorn. She has always (even before her current knowledge of astrology) said that I saved her and that by having me, she was able to realize how to turn her life around. Well, I am a capricorn rising, so the vertex again shows itself. This holds true quite often.
There is nothing in one's chart that gaurantees anything, especially dying alone. There are indicators of being prone to loneliness, or indicators of wanting to be alone, but nothing says you will be. This is where free will comes into play. If you want a partner then astrology can help you find someone based on your chart. Venus and mars indicate what we want in relationships, what we are drawn to. Juno (an asteriod not a planet) is what we need, the possible "soul mate" if you will. Juno's location in the chart tells alot about what a person needs from a partnership, as well as how they will tend to act. If you want to know "when" something will happen, you can do a transit chart. This tells you of everything going on at the moment compared to your natal chart. Also, solar return charts are yearly updates. There can be alot done with a solar return.....ever seen someone take a vacation and then all of a sudden things get alot better or worse for the individual? This is because for that particular person at that particular time, transits were harmonious or challenging for the person. There is a way to know when and where to go based on astrology. If you are able to astrologically calculate a good destination for your birthday on any given year, then go to that destination and be there the moment the transiting sun exactly conjuncts your natal sun, then you'd be surprised what kinds of things can happen. This technique has long been used to help others with their career, love life, family life....anything that may need a boost. It is a tedious process however. I have preformed it a few times, but I must admit I am not always the most accurate. It's very difficult to do, but if done right, the rewards are worth it. So again, planets don't indicate whether or not someone will find love, but they can tell when to pursue it.

Do you just want to have someone in your life so that you won't be alone? If that's the case, just get out there, mingle and find someone with a kind heart. If you're looking for that proverbial "soul mate", it may or may not even happen in your life time. They could be on the other side of the world or pass you everyday and you'd never know them.
