Star signs and horoscopes... does anyone else think this?!

Question: I think they are all chance that some people feel that they are at a moment in their lives where their horoscope is similar to their feeling and what oppertunaties arise.

I think they are like... giving 300 people a matchstick and telling the people that if they strike the matchstick 10 times, it wont light. Of course most of them will light but there are going to be a few that don't light arn't they? These are the matchsticks that seem true to the striker... (if that makes sense lol).

Fair enough I read my horoscope every now and again, but even if they seem true, I just think of the matchsticks.

I would love for them to be true, but I really don't think that they are.

Anyone else think this?

I think you're absolutely right..
I mean..What does the part of the sky you were born under have to do with who you are?

SO TRUE...

There is something to it, ever heard of Kabballah? It very much goes into depth and it is true. When looking into the sky on a clear night you will see the stars in formation..

Now does this mean that everyone within a certain sign will get a raise, get fired, break up, be sad, be happy etc. at any given moment? absolutely not! There are times however when I can really see it exclusively 'clicking' in a freaky sense.

There are billions of ppl. in the world, so think of it ... It's coming true at least for a couple of hundred pple.!

I also think that they are on target many times when speaking of current temperament.

Truth is, best things in life are those that we must work for (by making our own decisions, sometimes the hard way) but this presents the greatest rewards as well. That's really how one appreciates people and things. Not because a Horoscope said so... It's still interesting, mainly fun!

That's a very shallow understanding of astrology, I'm sorry to say. There are not just the Sun sign to take into account, there are the nine planets, and sundry other bodies involved, too.

Astrology works on the principle that all our energy comes from our Sun, and various frequencies of this energy are distorted in some way by the effects created by the bodies within the Sun's gravitational field. As planets move around the Sun, they change their effect on the energy that passes to and through the Earth. A simpler example of what happens is our Moon's effect on the Earth's tides. It's just that there are other, more subtle tides. It's all very complicated, and the newspapers publish only a very broad explanation of what might occur if only the Sun was involved. It's inaccurate, but fun, all the same.

If I go to enough websites, chances are I will find a horoscope that fits me. Stay with only one, and only a few times it may be close, but in a general way. Being belief oriented, sure it would be nice. Sort of. But life is experiences, the unknown is what make it interesting.

Predictability is boring. Letting a made-up and unproved concept control my life, instead of me, is not pleasant.

Edit: To John S.: If what you say has truth, then we should be able to detect and measure these "energies". Really, the only force that can be emitted by a planet, is gravity and electromagnetism. Both of these loose strength the further away the source is. If I pick up a good size book of a table, I'm putting more stress on the Earth than Mars is. Besides, the moon easily cancels out all gravity sources together including the sun.
People that have sore joints may be able to feel air pressure, but I never heard of anyone feel moon pressure.

im surprised my horoscope isnt more accurate, appropriate or related to what is going on in my life more ofte. i have read my horoscope maybe a hundred times it has has only been relative and helpful once. i find this strange because the ambiguity and generalness of them should make them 'true' more often. so yes i do believe that it is just a matter of chance

Hmm, well, Horoscopes are something, Astrology (the study of star signs and such) are something else:

Horoscopes, is fortune/future telling with the HELP of star signs, and, as for me, I honestly think that they are a load of rubbish. You find them in newspapers, magazines, etc.

Astrology, on the other hand, in my opinion its sooo fun and interesting! It (by using the planets, astronomy, sun and moon, many natal/birth charts [these are big circles with many symbol stuff on them], and experience) is studying a person's personality, why they act like this, its rlly useful! but thats just an opinion, but even so, i think: 'how come millons of ppl in the world are working so hard and studying bout astrology, it cant be cuz they are ALL idiots..', so therefore i believe in astrology, but not in horoscopes.

i think this to an existent but everyday the planets are places differently causing different emotions and Sir tin moods... but i dont think ppl souldnt base there who day on there horoscope
