Is scorpio a highly independent and powerful sign? Hopefully non scorpios can an!
Question: My perspective:
Scorpios are not as independent as they are powerful. I would say scorpio is the most powerful sign in the zodiac in the in-your-face way - as in they possess immense strength like Hades of the underworld. And the unknown is usually powerful, because their enemies do not know how to defeat them, not knowing their motives.
They are powerful because they desire power. And they know how to plot and scheme and bulldoze things to get their way. A scorpio with a goal is a force to reckon with.
As for independence, scorpions are loners, because they're too suspicious of other people - and too many incompetent people spoil their plans. So they usually like being alone.. that makes for their independence, but being a water sign, they are emotional and need to relate to others, especially at the deepest level.
Look at the 8th - house of intimacy. Scorpios are not independent in this regard, but are looking for the highest form of melding with another - they crave intimacy like intensity craves understanding and relating.

Im a scorpio too! I think we are most famous for being passionate so that might mean powerful. Im not sure about independent though.

but capricorn would be on top of my list. great leaders are born capricorns and theyre very resourceful that makes them very independent.
I don't know, i'm capricorn. I get along well with scorpios but, they can get crazy sometimes and then very independant the next day! I don't understand them but there really COOL to be with. :)

i wont call them independent....they like to rely on others when it comes to taking decisions....but yes once they get to be on the top they can be real powerful.....example:bill gates.
No - exactly the opposite.
They are needy and emotional. They need constant attention and assurance of love. Because of this, they often confuse sex with love and manipulate a lot of partners with sex.
They love deeply and this gets them in trouble sometimes because they think it gives them a green light to know everything that is going on in your life and dictate what you should & shouldn't be doing.
They tend to speak before they think, sometimes comments are poisonous and they spend half their time wishing they could get those words back in their mouth. They don't mean half the stuff they say, they just can't help it. It's in their nature. (Read the old aesops fable about the scorpion and the frog)
A lot of people cannot be bothered with Scorps. You either have to be very patient or the kind of person who is very, very laid back.
Well, I've been working and supporting myself since I was 15. By the time I was twenty I was a supervisor of over 100 people in a major hospital. So you decide.
It might not have to do anything with the sign, I'm just a determined person. I quit the hospital job when I made enough money to go back to school to major in something where I would have to work many years before I become a manager again. But who knows, I love being in charge. :)
I don't think Scorpios are highly independent. I find that they depend a lot on people often. They always go to others for help when they need to. They rely on others to do everything for them because they don't often know what to do when they have to do it by themselves. They usually depend on someone to make them happy because they are social people. They always go to a friend or family for comfort or support when they are in emotional pain. And then they are kind of desperate to find a lover when they're single. It's rare that they are independent on their own.
I'm not sure if most Scorpios are like this, but this is what I noticed from my friend who's a Scorpio.
But, it's weird that my Scorpio dad is the complete opposite of my friend. He's more independent and quiet. He enjoys being alone a lot than socializing with other people.
Honestly i dont even know. One minute i dont need anyone and i feel like a queen, The next, I feel lonely and want to call my ex. My attitude changes all the time (NO im not a gemini and have no gemini in my chart, Weird i know) But all in all i LOVE to be by myself. I get bored of men SOO easily, Geminis, Pisces,Taurus,Caps all boring too me. Im not offending those signs im sure one day i'll find one that can keep me on my toes :). So to answer your question Yes Scorpios are highly independent. Powerful? Ehh i think any sign can be powerful when they want to.

I would have to say yes to a certain degree. They are definitley highly opinioned and stubborn. I should know because I am one of them. They are probably the most dominating in the whole spectrum of the zodiac. They are also known to be very sexually charged. They are also very intuitive almost to the point of ESP. They are the kind that will finish your sentence for you (which can, at tmes, be very annoying to the talker) They are like a dormant volcano-on the outside they are cam and collected, but inside -their minds are boiling and constantly thinking of all options- At any moment the volcano can erupt -not always violently...but sometimes--Not in a physical..but mental way.
