Does the house that your Sun is in affect or change your personality...or does i!

Question: I'm Aquarius with my sun in the 1st house. How would my personality be changed or different if it were in the 7th house or the 12 house, instead?

The Sun being in your 1st house can give YOU more of the traits of a Leo while having the Sun in your 7th would possibly give partners the traits of a Leo. With your 1st house, there is more of a focus and attention on yourself while if it's in the 7th, your focus would be more on partners and partnerships.

Having the Sun in the 12th house can make you a night person.

Overall, the house the Sun is in shows where you focus most of your attention. Like the Sun in the 2nd house might usually be preoccupied by money, possessions, and their sense of self worth.

**The Sun rules Leo, that is why it would give you some Leo traits being in the 1st house (the house of self). The natural ruler of the 1st house is Aries. But it's the Sun that is there in your case, therefore, the Sun's influence on what the first house represents. Did that make any sense? :D Sometimes it's hard to explain, you know it's in my head, but it's harder to put into words. Since your Sun in Aquarius is in the 1st house, you would tend to be a more showy Aquarian, one who might enjoy the spotlight more than others and be prone to bossing others around, liking to be in charge.

**Sigh, Leftie gives me a thumbs down and doesn't even read your question right. He said Capricorn Rising not Aquarius, Leftie. I will get back to you on the Cap Rising part, I have that as well! <3

Okay, about Capricorn Rising. The thing about a person's Ascendant or Rising sign is that it "colors" the other placements, especially the Sun and Moon sign. You having a Capricorn Ascendant are more likely a more serious Aquarius. There are times when you might actually like taking the traditional route. People also see you as hard working, practical, and serious especially when they first meet you. Your instant reactions to things and new situations are going to be Capricorn-like, practical, rational, thought-out. I also have Neptune Rising (Neptune is 1 degree away from my Ascendant) and it gives me Pisces traits. People project on me all the time and it usually overpowers my Capricorn Rising although there are times when people see me as serious when I am anything but serious.

Aquarius rising gives a desire to express oneself in an original way. You are very individualistic and finds it necessary to be your own person. It makes you very idealistic and having humanitarian thinking ready to make the world a better place to live in.

Sun in 1st gives strength and vitality as is also the Ego. You seldom finish all of the projects that you start, but with a strong desire to succeed. It gives a "Me First" attitude.
By the same token, Sun gives the impulse to project oneself continuously into the immediate environment. You want to shine and put your best foot forward.

Care has to be taken that the drive to be the center of attention at all times does not become the overwhelming
personality characteristic of one's life.

Aquarius in 7th gives a need for the unusual and attracts unusual people also. You will tend to meet people from all walks of life and with friendship being of utmost importance.
It makes one stubborn and eccentric and demands freedom.
It would give a mental approach to relationships whereas now, with Leo in 7th gives an energetic partner.

Sun in 7th indicates a deep dependence on relationships and personal interactions, so that one's own creativity and individuality is in constant response to other people's initiatives.
Sun in 7th would make you seek a dominant partner.

Aquarius in 12 would make you hate all types of restraint; interest in unusual subjects and groups; adventurous

Sun in 12 would make you a timid worker but who would benefit through intuition, sensitive and compassionate. You would work best alone instead of in groups like Sun in 1st.
The limelight would not be important as when Sun is in 1st house.

The Sun mainly depicts the way you "shine". Houses, on the other hand, represent the circumstance when the energy of the particular planet is expressed.

The way your personality is expressed would be different if your Sun wasn't in your 1st house BUT, it also depends on the other planets you may have next to it. For example, the positive attitude of a first house Sun would definitely be influenced in case it was next to a strict and negative planet...like Saturn.

The Sun in the first house usually produces a person with a strong and imposing presence. (I wouldn't necessarily say it has to be attention-seeking unless we're talking about a Leo rising)-also quite persistent, positive, enthusiastic and one that usually has no problem taking the initiative (also depends on the Mars sign, though)

Having Sun in your first house means that you *shine* through dealing with personal issues, interests or self-image. Being self-determined and self-sufficient is part and parcel of it.

On the other hand, if your Sun was in your 7th house, you would be more relationship-inclined...others would be necessary for your existence and you would shine through your relationships. Perhaps you would be more indecisive and less forceful...and probably more level-headed (BUT, it depends on the kind of sign we're talking about because, for example, fire signs tend to act on the spur of the moment)

A 12th house Sun would make you more intuitive and introspective. I think I have read somewhere that the Sun in the 3rd, 6th,9th and 12th house is not that "strong". So, I suppose that would also make you more concerned about others, sympathizing with them and probably somehow contradictive (Pisces rules the 12th house)
