my parents are both water signs
mom - cancer sun (leo moon)
dad - scorpio sun (capricorn moon)
they'll go at it for hours!.!.!. neither budging!. when i was very little, i usually dragged my dad out (told my baby brother to take care of mom), we'd walk around a bit, come back, and they'd make up (for our sake!.!.!. ha ha)!.!.!. so when i was a kid, it usually ended in a draw!.
as we grew up, we saw a bit of power shift!.!.!.
the scorpio wants to fight!. will not let go of the issue, EVER!. the cancer, tired of it, will simply leave (pissing the scorpio off even more), ignoring all responsibilities!.
while scorpio is fixed, cancer is cardinal, so when they start, it drags on (especially since no one in our family is a mutable sign!.!.!.), but scorpio will lose not because he's weaker, but because the cancer somehow can manage to calm the scorpio down after awhile with something that scorpio may want!.

I'm glad you asked this as I've wanted to post a similar question!. I'm a Cancer and my partner is a Scorpio!. When we go head to head, I say what I need to say and listen to his view but if he wants to argue, yell or if he's made me mad, it's over!. I just stare at him with an evil smirk or tightly pursed lips and say nothing!. He says I look like I'm about to snap and beat somebodies a** but the truth is I do it because I'm TOO angry and know once I start talking the tears will start flowing (when I'm mad I cry and I don't like to cry in front of people, I tend to hyperventilate) and whatever comes outta my mouth will be harsh/hurtful/meansprited, long winded and filled with so much emotion and that I'll probably regret it later!. But, I know it bugs the heck outta him so I often continue the silent treatment a little longer just to make a point!. I don't back down and he begs me to talk to him or yell at him or slap him - ANYTHING just show some sort of emotion!. Unfortunately, at those times I have to show all emotions or nothing and I usually show nothing!. In the end he gets me to talk by apologizing, reverting to his boyish charm and If I'm lucky there's a small gift involved (last week it was Victoria's Secret ; )!. I guess it depends on what you view as backing down!. I guess one could say Cancers (or at least I) back down first becasue they/I go silent and won't argue but I don't give in whereas he can't stand that I won't argue with him so he gives in/up after a while!. As a side note, this can last for days and we may go to bed angry with each other and I may not be speaking to him but we know it will work out in the end and never let it affect what goes on in the bedroom!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
