True node is the same as North node, one of the two points where the moon crosses the ecliptic!. The ascendant/rising is the point on the eastern horizon, which changes as the Earth turns!.

I'm confused!. The true node is not the same as the ascendant or rising!. What are you refering to!?
edit: I think I see your confusion here!. The north node or "true node" is also sometimes refered to as the ascendant node!. The ascendant and ascendant node are two different things!.
The true node (or ascendant node) deals with something foreign to us!. The sign and house placements of one's north node in the natal chart indicates characteristics she/he must overcome for soul growth!. The nodes have karmic ties to them, and often is related to reincarnation!. Some don't believe in reincarnation, but it does seem like they are deeper than just this life!. Many astrologers believe that the nodes are malefic but I wouldn't associate them with being either benefic or malefic myself!. It is more like, the south node is old and familiar feelings we see to naturally have and must learn to overcome and avoid!. The north node teaches us what to do in order to overcomethe south node!.
The ascendant is the imaginary line that runs across the birthchart and signifies the sign that was "rising" at the time of birth!. It is representative of the first house of personality, self, physical appearance, and beginnings!. Any planet conjunct the ASC is said to factor in majorly to the personality and can affect looks as well!.

its called rising sign and not sun rising, the nodes are a different thing!.
