Not sure how cool it is but my grandmother firmly believed that if someone put a hat on the bed it meant a death was coming!. And that if someone died you had to cover all the mirrors in the house!. I didn't really understand that one, maybe she was afraid of seeing the departed persons spirit lingering there!.
If you spill salt you have to throw some over your left shoulder to ward off bad luck!.

This is a Southern one!. A lot of people in Louisiana still beleive in it too:
During a thunderstorm, especially ones involving lightning, you are supposed to cover all mirrors in youre house with a sheet!. This is to prevent you from seeing ghosts, also so the ghosts won't escape their world and climb into ours!Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think mine is a southern one too but we say if you see a red bird (cardinal) then you are supposed to kiss at it and say "money money money"
some people say there is a certain number of times you are supposed to do this but i do it until the bird is out-of-sight, lol
it means you will get some money soon (and honestly it works for me everytime! so i keep using it)

in india they say if you see even no!. of cuckoo birds then you will get good luck, if you see odd number, you get bad luck,Www@Enter-QA@Com
