Retrograde is an apparent motion that gives the impression of moving backward just like the Moon, if slow in motion, is like it was retrograde!.
Mercury retrograde inspires one to recount, re-think, repeat his steps!. It tones down communication and ponders before speaking out!. Not a bad thing actually!.
