Most of the times I feel no connection to my family except for my little brother!.

I suppose this is REALLY wrong--but If I had to choose between friends and family!?!?!? I'd have to choose my friends that have always been there for me, and supported me!. My family has never been that way; they always see the negative in people!. My friends support me, even when I've made a wrong choice--I feel they love me unconditionally, where as I will NEVER get the "approval" from my family!.

I value both!. I have deeper relationship with my friends, because its easier to relate!. We go thru the same struggles/challenges, and we are peers!. But, my family, although we'll never be on the same playing field, these are ones who have watched me grow since birth and remembers every broken bone and helped me thru chicken pox!. Its essential to have both!. There are times when both family and friends will annoy you and vice versa, but you need them around!. They are equally essential!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
To me, it's like this:
Family are people you share heritage/blood relations with!. Friends are people who care about you and who you care about!. When family are friends, that's when the whole emotional aspect to me comes in!. But purely the blood bond is not enough!.
My father's side of the family was quite abusive towards both my parents and me all my life, and like a proper Taurean they simply do not exist to me anymore!. I share a blood bond with them but that doesn't tell me anything!. They still hurt me and I still don't love them!. So friends go first!. The family members who I DO consider my friends are also my closest friends!. The family members who aren't, come in last!. That's just the way it is!. By-chance-relation is not enough reason for me to let destructive people into my life!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If my family were in the habit of disrespecting me or screwing me over!.!.!.and I had friends who respected me and treated me better - then YES!
