The history you get from western sources is so rediculously biased!. The oldest form of astrology is from the Rg Veda which is thousands of years old, and comes from ancient India!. Astrology existed previous to that by oral tradition mainly!.

The center of the galaxy is at 6o in Sagittarius!. This is supposed to be the first zodiac constellation named by humanity!. The original name is "Dhanu" which means "The Bow" !. The next was the scorpion right next to it!.

Usually you hear that the constellations were named by imaginative hunters or sailors and astrology later followed the leads of the meanings of those signs!. I find this a silly proposal!. Take a look at the constellation of cancer!. Who would EVER in a million YEARS take those 5 stars forming a square to be a CRAB!? Or look at aries, who on earth would consider it a Ram!? It's just three stars, mainly!

Really what happened is that the mystical seers of the ancient past knew the astrological implications of the 12 divisions of the zodiac and BASED ON THAT came up with visual images that they fit as best they could into the pattern of the stars!.

For a book!.!.!. Heart de Fouw's "Light on Life" has a good section to this effect!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The earliest known astrological records date back to Babylon, 1645 BC, and the earliest horoscope to 410 BC!. Astrology's origins can also be traced to several other locations and cultures, including Egypt, which developed sophisticated timekeeping and calendar science; Greece, where Ptolemy authored influential astrological and astronomical texts; and Rome, where many of the most learned men-including two emperors-were astrologers who wrote laws and counseled citizens based on the Stars!.

Mesopotamia, the "Land between the Two Rivers," is one of the so-called "cradles" of civilization, along with Egypt, China, the Indus Valley and Meso-America!. It also appears to be the oldest of these!. The evidence indicates an urban civilization as early as 4000 B!.C!.E!. The first people in the area were a people known as the Ubaidians!. We know virtually nothing about these people except that at a fairly early period another people began moving into the area and intermarrying with them!. These were the Sumerians who became dominant and whose language replaced whatever was the language of the Ubaidians!. also the Sumerians invented the oldest known form of writing, cuneiform, which is done by impressing wedge-shapes into soft clay!.

I have always viewed astrology as the "sea mans way"!. Because the sailor used the stars to guide his ship into uncharted waters!. They often would call the stars as they see them or base the design of the stars to creatures or beasts or even lovely maidens!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
