Question: What are the benefits of numerology!?
I don't know much about it, but if I decide to look into it, I'd like an idea of what direction I should be going in!.

The first thing that you should do is calculate your Life Path and Expression numbers!. These are the most important numbers to you, and all of the other numbers that you receive will be reflected in them!.
The expression number is created by adding the letters in your name!. The Life Path is created by adding together the numbers in your birthday!. In a way, I suppose it could be viewed like your Sun sign and Ascendant, though the two ARE very different!. The Life Path describes what your soul is destined to strive for!. The Expression number is the number through which you view your world and approach it!.
The best numerology information is probably in the books by Hans Decoz!. You can pick them up relatively cheap on Amazon!. A lot of the online calculators screw up calculations for people with "special" numbers (like master numbers)!.

1 = the sun (the unity of awareness)
2 = the moon (love/hate - duality of emotion)
3 = mars (triangle - pointedness, energy)
4 = mercury (square, interchangability, interface, communication)
5 = jupiter, (combination of square and triangle - mars+mercury = energy directed by intelligence
6 = venus (star of david, perfect male-female harmony and balance)
7 = saturn (7 pointed star of the occult and mysterious)
8 = rahu (octagon, wildness - energy in all directions)
9 = ketu (the spiritual pinnacle)
next examine the patters of 3, 4!.!.!. 12, 9 and 108 in the zodiac!.
