You can get your free natal chart which would indicate your rising sign and also with an interpretation of your rising sign!. You can check out http://astro!.cafeastrology!.com/cgi-bin/a!.!.!. and http://www!.astro!.com/cgi/atxgen!.cgi!?btyp!.!.!. and http://www!.0800-horoscope!.com/birthchart!.!.!. These are all great!. You'll need to know two things: the location of where you were born and the time you were born (both should be as exact as you can manage)!.

The formula to find it is this:
Asc = arctan((-cos(A)) / ((sin(A))(cos(E)) + (tan(L))(sin(E))))
where A is the local sideral time in degrees, E is the inclination of the Earth's equatorial plane to the ecliptic, and L is the local latitude!.

That's really confusing, I know, so a quick-and-dirty way is to think of the natal chart as a 24-hour clock, with 6 a!.m!. at the the left point, noon at the top point, 6 p!.m!. at the right point, and midnight at the bottom point; this approximates dawn and dusk, and to be accurate you'd have to set the left and right points with real sunrise and real sunset at the place you were born that day!. Place the Sun at the point on the chart corresponding to the birth time, so a birth at 7:31 p!.m!. at 15 Libra would be roughly in the 6th house!. Place the signs accordingly, and the sign that covers the left point is the ascendant (in the 7:31 p!.m!. example, that'd be 0 Taurus)!.

You can approximate the houses by going by this scheme (in 24-hour time):
0600 - 0800 : 12th house
0800 - 1000 : 11th house
1000 - 1200 : 10th house
1200 - 1400 : 9th house
1400 - 1600 : 8th house
1600 - 1800 : 7th house
1800 - 2000 : 6th house
2000 - 2200 : 5th house
2200 - 0000 : 4th house
0000 - 0200 : 3rd house
0200 - 0400 : 2nd house
0400 - 0600 : 1st house
The divisions of the houses will differ based on the school of astrology you use, as well as the time, date, and location of birth!.
