i have a riddle and whoever get's it right gets 10 points. ^_^

there was a theif who just robbed a wealthy family. the police was were looking for him. he hiding from the police when he saw a advertisment for plastic surgery. he went into the building and begged the doctor to change his face so no one would be able to reconize him. he offerned the doctor a LOT of money. the doctor was greedy so he agreed. after the surgery, the thief couldn't believe what he saw in the mirror. his face was completly different! but when the police saw him, they still reconized him and put him in jail. why?
