3 guys buy a football for 30 dollars. they each paid 10 dollars. when they get to the cashier the, the cashier tells them the ball is on sale. The ball is on sale for 25 dollars. The cashier dosn't want to spit the money up evenly for the 3 guys so she gives them each a dollar back and pockets the other 2 dollars. So if she gave them each a dollar back that means they each payed only 9 dollars. 3 guys at 9 dollars each equals 27 dollars plus the 2 dollars she pocketed equals 29 dollars. WHAT HAPPEND TO THE OTHER DOLLAR.

To solve, you have to look at the equation almost from the opposite way:
1) Cost of football = $25.00
2) Plus $2 cashier pocketed = $ 2.00

TOTAL $27.00
3) Cost of ball = $9 ea. x 3 guys = $27.00
