Good pet joke -- enjoy?

I guy goes to the pet store and speaks with the dude that works there (I’m typing this from memory if you can’t tell) he says he is looking for an exotic pet that is also a very good companion. So the pet shop dude says “I got the perfect pet for you, I’ll be right back.” The dude brings out a shoe box with a caterpillar in it and said “he’s real outgoing and loves to drink.” So the guy takes the caterpillar home. After a while the guy goes over to the shoe box and says “hey caterpillar lets go to the bar and get a couple drinks” and he waits and hears nothing. So again (a little louder this time) he says “hey caterpillar lets go to the bar and get messed up” once again he heard no reply. So the guy yells “HEY CATAPILLAR LETS GO HAVE A DRINK AT THE BAR!!!” And then the caterpillar says, “I heard you the first time; I’m putting on my shoes.”
