Where is the missing dollar?!
Question:
Where is the missing dollar?
Three men check into a hotel room that costs $30. Each man pays $10 at the desk and they go to their room. The desk person realizes that he has overcharged the guests and that the real room rate is $25. So, he gives the bellboy 5 one-dollar bills and tells him to return it to the men in the room.
The bellboy, being unscrupulous and realizing they won't be able to dividie the $5, keeps $2 for himself and returns the other $3 to the men.
Now, the men each paid $9 so that's $27 and the bellboy kept $2. That's $29. What happened to the other dollar from the original $30 that they paid?

The men each got one dollar back from the original $10 they paid. That is where I got that they only paid $9 each.
Answers:
There is no other dollar. The motel has $30 and gives $5 of that to the bellboy to return to the men: $30 - $5 = $25.
The bellboy, not knowing how to split $5 equally decides to keep $2 for himself: $5 - $2 = $3.
The men each end up with $1 each. Total it up: 3 x $1 + $2 + $25 = $30.
