Question: Do you buy gifts and expect the person you hurt to except your apologies? Do you write a letter? Do you take them to dinner? I'll usually just bake them a cake and try to be pleasant until I see them smile again.

No gifts, just a simple sincere I'm really sorry. I usually don't do anything to be sorry for on purpose so I would tell them it was unintentional and hope they understand.
I think you should go to the person's door and apologize. They might not accept it yet, but over time....hopefully they will.
usually I say tha I′m sorry and that I′l try not to do it again! ( I can′t bake, sorry!LOL!)

i just say sry like i don't mean it, if i'm serious i'll put a serious tone into it
well, i have a couple ideas to throw out here
1. its different with how close ur friendship is
if its a coworker, a simple "im sorry" should be enough
2 if its a god friend a nice talk in a quiet and secluded place ( where there is not distractions) and a talk from ur heart will clear the air if they r truly the friend , and if ur friendship is true
3. if its with a family member u may never find enough to clear the air ( ajaja) it definetly depends on the family member
and u shouldnt give gifts during the bad times like this, but at unexpected good times, and it will mean more to ur friend
