Marriage is a State law. There is no Federal law against Bigamy. It is legal to have many wives, as long as not married more than one from the same state, and you don`t live in any state you were married in!

In biblical days bigamy,or having more than one wife was alright if the man had enough money to support his wives.Of course,there are more women and less men,and always have been,so in many societies sometimes ity didnt depend on money.In that case,the male provided protection and security,if not support financially.
In primitive societies women sometimes build the shelters as well as cook,while the man finds food for all of them.
So,in this case,I think the questioin is predicated on what ,ind of society you live in and whether you have the money to support more than one wife.
Monogamy is okay if that is what you want.Of course,as for me,I dont have any need for more than one wife,girl friend,or whatever.
All of this revolves primarily around how capitalistic a society you live in.Of course,in the USA,it's almost totally capitalistic,and so the viewpoint is devoid of any imagination.
All unions are,or are usually unions of choice,so as long as both parties are satisfied,what's the question?
