Why don't sheep shrink in the rain? It's a joke so treat it that way!!?!

Question: It's just a joke to see who can come up with the most scientific FAKE answer to why they don't shrink in the rain but my jumpers shrink in the wash!

Because they are not yellow.

Maybe they do, have you ever measured a sheep before and after?

Er............................?

because of the anti-shrinkage sheep dip they have to have every spring

lmao because the rain doesnt come down on a 40*c full wash spin with added fabric conditioner lol !

Wool is made of Nylon that`s why,,,,,

they do shrink, but so does the field around them so it looks the same as before. it's an optical ill-ewe-sion

you will find that they don't shrink in the cold wash, but I do know that the sheep in the hot rainy regions of the world do, unless they have been preshrunk

Depends on the degree of rain ......(pmsl)

lol Beats me

lol it is due to the solution they use in the sheep dip it is a anti shrink and prevents shrinking for sheep in wet temperatures up to 60 degrees

A study was complied by Mary Mary in the 70's and with out wanting to bleat on about it. It makes a compelling read.

Mary Mary's journals were deemed to be quiet contrary by many yet I stand by her work, she put forward this theory that
the wild flowers, silver bells and cockle shells when eaten by sheep, promote the increase of lanolin in the fleece, which of course has strong anti shrink vitamins in them.

One or two sheep avoid them and if you look in the field these tend to be the smaller ones, which have shrunk in the rain.

I hope this answers your question.

Actually if you look at sheep when it is raining, they get bigger, they have this great mechanism inside them that enables them to get bigger when it rains and after the rain has finished falling they reduce themselves back to their normal sizing!!
I think it is ingenious that the sheep can do this, its almost like one of those puffa fish.

I think that they do shrink when they get wet, but as they can't get spread out on a rack over the bath, or rolled up in a towel to dry they stretch out again so the shrinkage doesn't last very long

Just like jeans they buy their fleeces a couple of sizes too big and grow into them

dey are actually made from plastic,
that outer layer of wool is a decoy,
u hear me, a decoy!!!

because they have specific adenosine triphosphate in the wool/skin connection that is removed when the wool is shorn. the adenosine triphosphate is what keeps the wool from shrinking. your jumpers are without it, so they shrink.

is that a good scientific FAKE answer?

Its not a well known fact but sheep are the only animal to have a symbiotic parasite that has evolved to help the host stay dry. these are called "chunky bum monkeys" and these used to survive on things the farmers left behind in the bum cavity off sheep. these chunky bum monkeys obviously flourished in most parts of wales but strangely only in the more "attractive sheep"

As the farmers prefer there sheep to have a not to tight bottom for health and safety reasons, it is in the bum monkeys best interest to keep the sheep dry so it doesn't get too tight and the farmers still leave the food.

To achieve this the bum monkeys keep a sheet of clear plastic handy, and when it rains the simply climb out of the sheep's bum and cover the sheep with the clear plastic.

its as simple as that!
