Can anyone guess what this could be?!

Question: ok... my boyfriend has bought me a little present... its probly only something silly but hes given me clues and i cant think what it could be...
the clues are:

1) you can use it to wear something, but you cant wear it

2) you can use it to eat but you cant eat it

3) it comes in a bag

4) it was only $3 (not dollars, pounds... dont have a pound sign for some reason)

A tiny natural sponge.

They are bought in little bags.

They are for applying make-up, but you can't wear "IT".

It is a sponge you cannot eat.
For the size of a fifty pence piece, - they don't come cheap - it's NOT THE COST - IT's the thought.
