1. mt everest because it wasn't discovered, but it still the highest- sort of like that riddle "if a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?"- that's what it reminds me of...
2. that one really stumped me, but i saw the two above me (yes, yes, i know, i cheated :D) and their answers make sense: she lived in a lighthouse.
