seriously? the egg. the egg held a dinosaur with a mutation (natural selection) and for some reason that mutation is supposed to help that species later on. really, a dinosaur can't just change into a chicken, it has to slowly progress into that species! i asked my science teacher that once!

Serious answer: the egg, because the egg resulted from the breeding of two birds that were not completely chickens and a slight mutation occurred and the result was the first completely chicken inside the egg.
