they want to make sure there are no "lethal injection"-killing bacteria that will stop the poison
so as not to introduce bacteria to the body
Well last time I was working at a prison and I asked the doctor why he had to clean the arms of the prisoner when he will be gone anyways and the doctor said because he was practicing. It was a good day.
Old habits die hard I suppose!!!
