hey!
i'm a singer...and do solo all the time.
here are some tips that might help
1. PRACITE and PRACITE! (if you feel really confident about it and you can "sing it in your sleep" and you will feel less nervous when it comes time to perform)
2. Sing it before hand with like your best buds for just walk around the hosue/ school and sing it. (if thurday isn't the very 1st time you sing it for people you will feel less nervous casue it won't be as new an experiance)
3. when actually singing it have somthing in mind your thinking about (thats related to the song)
4. Have a spicific person your singing it to in your mind (someone who is not nesicaly there!! but could be)
5. get good sleep wed. night (less likey to forget words, more likey to stay consindtrated)
6. stand up and sing it with a CONFINDENT attidute (be in control....if you show ur nervous people will know that and feel bad and make make fun of you...so you out there and just DO IT!)
6. Know that everyone there loves you (like a freinds or sister u know wut i mean) and is there to help you and listen with open harts and minds...they WON"T judge you or make fun...TRUST ME!!! i have done it 10000 times!

Practice in a mirror before you go on it will help you realize that you don't look stupid. Also try and remember even if you mess up they will not laugh at you. It take a lot of courage to do a solo. Good Luck!
You should put this under women's health. Just because you don't have a partner, doesn't mean you have to perform in front of others. Doing IT should be a private thing between two people who love each other or it can be practiced on ones self also in private. Good luck with this.
well if you have a solo you must be good at singing so be proud and and flaunt it thats what i would do
