A Redneck pertained to a person with short hair, that works outside, ie; farmer, road worker etc, whose back of the neck gets sunburned, and turns red, hence REDneck. I believe location has something to do with it, Down South !

if you mow your lawn and find a car you are a redneck. A redneck is like hillbilly, counrty person I thinks its a southern thing.
