My science teacher asked me what cam first the egg or the chicken...?!

Question: Our science teacher was asking us what came first the egg or the chicken and I was all like "What the Heck?" So she told us to make a guess tomorrow and so I was wondering what do the people of yahoo answers think?

Eggs came along a long time before there were chickens. Lizards were laying them for millions of years before there were ever any birds. Slowly these lizards evolved feathers. Like it or not the fossil record does exist for this idea. Identical skeletons have been found, some with feathers, some without.

At some point an egg hatched and what came out looked sufficiently different from what had been coming out before that someone named it chicken.

So this answer is not as difficult to understand as philosophers have lead us to believe.

Love and blessings Don

Tell her that a circle has no beginning.

(:
Thank God for Harry Potter.

egg.

chicken?

Thats easy

Like Adam and Eve, they were brought into the world as adults

If you don't believe in Adam and Eve, pardons

Also if the egg were to come first nothing would feed or hatch it, meaning the chicken wouldn't come at all.

So its logical that the chicken came first

Yeah, it is a stupid question posing as philosophy. What came first was the cell...

tell her the egg.

dinosaur eggs, HELLO

tell her evolution.

it had to be the chicken because the egg would have to come from another chicken in order to be there

both

I'd say the chicken, how could the egg survive if not for the warmth of a chicken? As for how the chicken came? It evolved from simpler life forms and developed the ability to lay eggs later on instead of reproducing asexually. Thats my two cents...

The chicken because it evolved from another species hence it was not known as a "chicken" until it fully evolved.

Is it a trick question? It might be the chicken, since its already hatched and the egg is, well still an egg. Just a guess..

the chicken definetly came first

A circle has no beginning, obviously. Complete with contempt and smirk.

chicken

kick her in the shin shes dumb

Neither.

my dad asked tat too say theres no beginning

promptly ask her, "Why'd the chicken cross the road?"

chikckens... i think

Tell her God made the chicken first.

Seriously.

its one hell of a question and has an impossible answer. think about it you cant have a chicken without an egg and you cant have an egg without a chicken. it has to do with philosophy in a way.......just try not to think about it too hard.

The Egg

The egg came first, because dinosaurs were here first and they laid eggs.

There is no answer...

But, if you believe in Darwinian theory like me,

The egg is your answer. 2 semi-chickens laid an egg together, and a genetic mutation occurred in the egg, bringing about the chicken we know today.

now thats a riddle thats never been solved!!!!!!..but yeh could have been the dinosaurs...

lol!
those answer's are funny.
it'd have to be the chicken.

The chicken of course. If you believe in Creation, it makes sense, God created animals and a chicken is an animal, thus the chicken came first

God created the chicken, which laid the egg. So the chicken came first.

Genesis 1:24-25
"And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."

It's as simple as that. Sixth day of creation you have chickens and they go on to "be fruitful and multiply" which means little chickies in eggs. :)

Blessings!

Editing real quick: For all those "Darwinians" out there...evolution is false. Darwin himself gave criteria which would "prove his theory wrong" and those criteria have been met. Also, mutations don't get passed on. The entirety of a mutation is a mistake, a "glitch" so to speak. Those don't get passed on and turn into the new genes for something. And one last point, God created nature to do away with such mutations and mistakes. Just look at a predator/prey relationship for example. Lions, tigers, aligators...whatever you choose...all single out the young, injured or very old in a herd of their prey. They don't eat the healthy animals which can carry on the species. They eat those that hinder it. The whole idea of evolution is supposedly based on "survival of the fittest" no? In reality, it is based on survival of the unnatural and weak...which makes no sense.

The Chiken came first.
