Changing Evolution??!

Question: I know this is random but its something i have been thinking about.

According to Darwins theory of evolution creatures with the best features mate and have children, in so passign on the good features.

But in our modern society, with more emphasis on plastic suregry ect. ugly people are making them selves look better looking. in so disrupting natural selection. So that means we are uglifying the human race!

Dunno if i explained it very well!

  • Also there is arranged marriage, also there are stupid woman that choose an ugly guy over a good looking one just to have ugly babies, unbelievable.

    ookkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy?????!!!...

    dunno...

    but it's not random.

It's a good question, but natural selection doesn't say 'the best features' - what Darwin said was that NS is often sexually driven because mates are selected on some criteria or other, in favour of other potential mates. 'Ugly' is a subjective term anyway!

    Good question.

Natural selection applies best to wild populations, once civilisation modifies the rules & concepts of whats good the end result or time scale of change is greatly modified.

Political theory - "correctness" is blurring these best choices even more & recessive problems are often hidden or unknown. It is unlikely to move the human race backwards though, more likely to become stagnant in development.

sounds right. plus if youre going on about ugly what about all these size zero women

Don't be ridiculous; attractiveness changes in different cultures and different time periods - someone who is considered attractive now will not necessarily be considered attractive a few hundred years from now.

Also, your physical beauty/attractiveness has no bearing on survival, as they've proven that people choose based on different factors for mating.
