Maybe one of the men is named Each, and only he took a pear.

Or there could be several pear trees and the men took pears from different ones.

Or one of the men is named Eleven, and they hanged him in the pear tree.

Or there were many more pears than12 on the tree, but only 12 hung high. They all took lower pears, except for one.

they all took the same one.

they all took the same one

the pears grew again

each took one what?

there were 12 pear trees...

You didn't tell us what 'one' is/was.

"One" could mean a leaf, a seedling, a branch or a pear from a neighbouring tree.

mayb 1 took a pear & played passing the pass!!!

I swear to god CJ better be right, cause if they all took the same one your question is invalid as they EACH took one.

I would also enjoy seeing akasma be right.

One left the place and leaves the 11 men hanging there.

"Each" is the name of the person and the other 11 people just passed by.

There are 12 pear trees which had12 pears each.
Each of 12 men took one pear from a different pear tree.
There were 144 pears, now there are 132 pears.
Meaning 12 x12 =144 --- -- 12-1 =11`--- 12x11 =132

Or -- Akasma & Koronais are right & only one man out of the 12 took a pear & his name is :Each:
