2) The word is "startling." Remove the "l" and it becomes STARTING. Then remove the "t" and it is STARING. The rest of the changes are as follows: remove "a" for STRING - remove "r" for STING - remove "t" for SING - remove "g" for SIN - remove "s" for IN - and finally, remove "n" for I.

3) The movie was at a drive-in theater, and their car had tinted windows.
