Disturbing prank call investigation?!
Question: Me and my girlfriend were awoken at about half 3 AM by a genuinely scary call. I'm assuming it was a prank call.
It sounded like a pre-recorded clip or something similar and started with "Wakey wakey" and then repeated that again and after that talked on but I couldn't make out what it was actually saying.
It was speaking in a pretty low voice, it almosty sounded like it was whispering. Sounded kind of as if it had been computer edited which is one of the reasons I'm lead to believe it was a prank.
My partner was really shaken by it and was so worried about it that she cried over it. I can see why as I was also very shoken by it. I'd like to be able to clear up the origin of the phone call to put her mind at rest as she's still worrying about it currently.
The call was received on a mobile phone (if thats of any importance) and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sorry to hear this dude..I can imagine it was very frightening for you and your gf..and I too would be scared!
I'd say if you're that worried, perhaps report it to the police, they can check up on it, as it could be a threat, I mean, its not impossible..
Plus by calling the police and reporting the incident, you and especially your gf can feel abit safer or feel abit reassured.
It was probably just some idiots pranking people, ask some neighbours or friends if they've experienced anything similar recently.
Another word of advice, if you get any calls at 3am again, don't answer, in fact any calls above a certain time..perhaps if anyone calls after midnight, then just don't answer..
Or perhaps get the sort of phone that shows the number that is calling, therefore, any number you don't recognize, you can ignore..
I never answer the phone...I freak out when my phone rings, but if I know its my mum or someone, I can answer..

So...your worried about a call where all you could understand was "Wakey..wakey"? Doesn't take much to shake you up.
i had one awhile back. its probably a `friend` messing about. if it happens again, just hang up. i did.
um... i know theres a way to trace the call... i was prank calling some people with my friends and they called the cops on us... the cops have a program where they can trace any call, even if its restreicted... call them (the #'s 911) lol jk
It could have been a miss dialed number, I wouldn't fret over it .. especially if it was a one time thing.
Someone might have wanted a wake up call at 3am to go to work and the friend just miss dialed.. tell your gf she needs to relax.. it happens.

If it worries you so much , and the numbers hidden , cant the cops like find out the number for you.
Call your service provider and ask them what number called you. It is up to you and your gal if you want to call the police. If they call back, ask them to speak up- the police that are taping the call can't hear what they are saying!
Put a tap on your phone. Tell the telephone company about what happened.
Lol... um sorry but this stuff happens all the time and omg I get worse things said to me on the phone, but so far it's only happened once? If it doesn't happen again, then chill relax and if it does, then it's probably just some bored low-life (pranker) and I'm assuming they called you from a private number and what they said to you isn't "threatening" or "dangerous" anyway so you can't do anything about it, they're just nusiance calls, take the piss but that's what they are.
I've received a few prank calls in my time. Usually perverts - one used to send me MMS messages of his genitals. The world is full of freaks.
All the experts say that you shouldn't respond to the prank caller - it is this anxiety/anger that they feed off. Just put the phone down gently, leave it for 5 or 6 minutes, and then hang up. This is worst possible and most boring response for the prank caller and he'll probably give up.
If it happens again, you can get your mobile number changed for free. First of all you need to report it to the police (who will probably do minimal investigation) who will give you a crime number. Give this number to your mobile provider who'll change your number for you.
Thats horrible. I had a few prank calls years ago. Keep a sports whistle by the phone. When they wake u at 4 in the morning, blow the whistle hard down the phone. It kills their eardrums. that`ll teach `em !!
