The Riddle Of The Sphinx - What goes on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three in the evening.
Only one color, but not one size,
Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies,
Present in sun, but not in rain,
Doing no harm, and feeling no pain.
Round like an apple, deep like a cup,
Yet all the King's horses cannot pull it up.

I think the first one is a metaphor for life, as I recall. So, a baby crawling, then the person walking on two legs, then an old person with a stick.
Had to look this one up I'm afraid: A shadow. But it's rubbish. Since when is a shadow not present in the rain?
