Should my son get in trouble for this remark at school?!

Question: One of the kids in his class was getting in trouble, so the teacher decided to move him. She picked my son to swap desks with. My son said, "But I don't want to move."
The teacher said, "Too bad. People in hell want ice water."
So my son said, "O.k. Can I have some ice water?"

That's hilarious. And the teacher was out of line, not your son. She shouldn't make comments like that to her students. Congratulate your son on a great comeback!!

lol naw

hahaha, you have a very clever son =]

if anything, the teacher should get in trouble for saying hell ;)

That is funny as heck! No. If he does, so should the teacher. Improper language.

He was obviously being cheeky, but I don't think it's too bad. Definitely not something to freak about. I think you should have a quick talk with him, but not run him over with a lawnmower :D

no he didnt say any thing wrong but he is funny though put him on tv

Hell naw she just mad cuz she was outsmarted

haha no you raised your son well!

Lmfao good for him,not letting a teacher (or as I call 'em classroom Nazis) push him around. he doesn't deserve to get into trouble for that.

thats hilarious.
no he shouldnt get in trouble
the teacher brung up the subject
so he/she shouldve been ready to get a answer back.
if he does get in trouble then that teacher and the school are a bunch of twats.

no not really i said far worse things to my teachers , i got called into school cos my son, bless he is so inocent asked the teacher to move cos he couldnt see the black board co her big boobies were in the way i thaught it was hysterical cos i know he wouldnt of meant it in a rude way if they got on with it and payed more attention to teaching instead of picking up on silly little things theyd get much more teachin done

It depends on whether your son is trouble maker.
If the remark is consistent with his behavior, then no
Also, parents often believe what their kids say regardless of what may have happened.
Where you ever a child in school?
Wake up!

Witty comeback. No, I don't think he should get in trouble, but he will probably be reprimanded.

no not at all first of all the teacher has no right at all to talk to ur son like that and i feel strongly that you go and speak to the teacher as your son was not the 1 misbehaving and teachers are ment to be sportive and advising i feel not many students are fond of are she is not playing a teachers role at all. hope it helps

good gracious you have a very intelligent son there. you r in very good at those things. in my opinion your son should not get in trouble for this remark at school.

very clever man
very clever

lol...great

it's a smart-alec remart, and although he shdn't, i m sure he wud hv got in trouble bcoz of it!!

smart kid

Well... I think they should both get in trouble.

You're son is very clever, mad props to him. But that was still disprespectful to a person in a professional environment. I think the teacher should also get in trouble too. She is supposed to be in a professional environement and she says a remark like that?

If this story is true and your son gets in trouble, request a meeting with principal to discuss this teachers actions

My opinion is that the teacher walked right into that. No punishment should be issued.

If she said that, you should take him/her before the school board.

lol

I think your son's reply was rather witty--it was the teacher who was clearly out of line--the request for your son to move should have been handled very differently.
If he's in trouble, is it for the remark itself, or for his hesitation/refusal to comply with the teacher's directive that he move? In any case, this teacher sounds very unprofessional (what we're thinking to ourselves and what comes out of our mouths should usually be two very different things).

NICE

no hes a smart kid, i wish i could come up with smething like that

Poor teacher; gotta deal with kids who are smarter than she is.

Not at all, the teacher your son has seems like not a very nice one. I wouldn't do anything to him except laugh at his joke.

No he shouldn't there is nothing wrong with this statement.. But the teacher (I think) didn't have to say the thing about ice water

smart kid

no your son should not have gotten i trouble, plus hell is consider a profanity

I WOULD BE SO PROUD OF HIM....
