nightmare sounds like 'night mayor'. so the ghost wants to be a night mayor ;o)

it could be as the people b4 me said 4 it soundin like mayor or 4 nite mare ( nite as in a gaurd mare as in a horse ) because sometimes horses guard them

Mayor is someone who works in city hall.
So a night major is someone who works in city hall at night and ghosts are generally night creatures (can only be seen at night time).
