2 miles
11 miles
14 miles
20 miles
26 miles

The directions of the cars makes a right triangle. You can use Pythagoreans theorem to solve for the unknown side. a^2+b^2=c^2
36+64=c^2
100=c^2
10=c
Then you have to account for the distance of the other car, so the answer is 20 miles.

14 miles?

(='.'=)
('.')_('.')

14 miles apart?

omg let me know if im right! is it 26? i went with 28 (lol i added them all together!!) then read that wasnt a possibillity so went with the next number closest!

I can't wait to see your answer. I don't know how it's not 28.

is the answer 11 miles

Holy C**p i just had that problem on my math test lol.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
c = sqrt{a^2 + b^2}
16^2 + 12^2 = c^
256 + 144 = c^2
400 = c^2
c = sqrt{400}
c = 20

The 2 cars are 20 miles apart.

I THINK THAT IT IS 20 MILES! o.o
