Childbirth. When they said it was actually going to happen, I nearly panicked. It was a lot quicker than I'd been led to believe (first pain to baby was 3 and a half hours) But then the nurse was rude because I wanted to close my eyes during the contractions, and they informed me the new resident was going to watch the birth and when I said I didn't want him in there, they ignored me, he didn't even introduce himself, the anesthesiologist didn't show up, so it was all natural and all of the sudden I was a lot more focused on being angry at the situation and trying to breathe while I felt like I was being squeezed by a really large snake to panic anymore.

Being afraid for your kid is always worse than being afraid for oneself.
I was on vacation once in a hotel at the beach, on the eleventh floor with a nice view of the ocean.
At one point we realized that my three years old boy was not in the suite. He had managed to open the door and leave!

Everybody searched for him and I was so afraid he either had fell down to his death or that somebody had grabbed him and I would never see him again!

We finally found him lost at the top of the stairwell.

Those minutes looking for him were the worst of my life.

I remeber when I was 6 and I lost my mom in the supermarket, and I am shy so I just sat and cried, it traumatized me so that I never left my mom when we were in a store

Or maybe I was so scared because one of my favorite shows was Punky Brewster and her mom abandoned her in a store.
