The easiest way to find something lost around in the house is to never give up in looking and ask people who's in the house if they have seen the lost thing... understand?

Look for something else and you are sure to find the thing you were looking for first - works nearly every time. You also find things you didn't realise you had lost which is always a bit worrying! I have tried to lose my kids this way but that never ever works.
There is also the phenomenon known as 'bloke look' which is that you are told where something is but because it is behind something else you are unable to see it. This mainly happens when men are looking, particularly after their wives/girlfriends have told them where the something is. The man then says 'no, it's not there' and the wife/girlfriend then moves the object blocking the blokes view and lo and behold it magically appears as if it had been there all the time!
Along with 'bloke look' there is also 'kid look' which is they are told put their shoes on and then announce they can't find them, are then asked to look for them, which they always reply 'i have looked'. What they fail to mention is that they looked in the book they were reading or the computer they were playing on and did not actually look anywhere remotely suitable for a pair of shoes to be hiding.
Find a new one same as what you lost. OR control F.

I have found the easiest way to find something lost, is to go out and purchase a new one. Voila...as soon as you get home, the lost item is siting in plain sight. Gremlins, it's the gremlins that love to taunt us! :)
