What is the answer to this almost impossible question?!

Question: a man wants to take a meter long step forward but everytime he takes a step its half of the last step he took so the first step he takes is half a meter the next step he takes is a quater of a meter and so on, he can live forever so will he ever reach a meter?

This question can be modeled by the equation y=.5^x for each step, and if you plug this equation into a graphing calculator, you'll see that at no point will the step itself be 1 meter long. However, it may be possible for the steps to eventually add up to a meter, but i don't think so. I'm pretty sure if you keep adding them up you'll just get to .999999999999 repeating. ( which isn't equal to 1, no matter what people say.)

He will eventually take a metre step backwards, does that count ?

eventually yes.
Even thought the man is walking a fewer distance each time, he is still moving forward. As long as he is moving forward he will eventually reach a metre.
Hope i've helped!

NEVER

1 meter x .5=.5 meter
1/2m x.5=.25m x.5=.125m x.5=.675m
And ON and ON and ON FOREVER

No, he'll never reach it. He'll always be 1/2 a step behind.

ofcourse not, he will actually be getting further away from that step

yep he'l reach a meter but in the opposite direction

yes but it will take some time

He gets fed up and goes to the pub for a yard of ale

?
