Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?!
Question: Heh...if it were almost anything else but gold, the answer would be they weigh the same. In actuality a pound of feathers weighs more because gold and feathers are weighed under different systems and a "pound" is different for each. Gold is measured under a Troy weight system, which has 12 ounces to the pound (sorry Old Man & Sea, but a pound of gold is NOT 16 ounces, yep, it's really only 12!)
Feathers are measured by avoirdupois (sp?) weight system, which is 16 ounces to the pound.
So it is actually a pound of feathers that weighs more. :)
