Riddle....!!!?!

Question: if you are in a 2 story house and on the second floor is a room with a light in it, controlled by 3 switches on the first floor, and you cannot see the room upstairs from the 1st floor and you could only go upstairs once, how would you know which of the switches controls the light?

you turn on 2 lights and wait. After some time, you turn 1 light off and go upstairs. You know the one that is on is the one that is left on. As for the other 2, you feel the bulb, if one is warm you know that is the one you turned off. The cold one is the one you never touched

turn em all on

turn them all on

Turn on ALL of the switches at the same time! :-)

this is tough... turn two on?

turn all the switches and THEN go up. if nothing works.... oops!

you need more info to make it a good riddle. . . and give more specific limitations.

The one that turn it on

Since "I" can only go upstairs once, I'll have a friend repeatedly go up and down for me. He'll feel exhausted and call me a dick but it'll be worth it.

Turn one switch on, leave it for a while.
Then turn another switch on.
Go upstairs and check which bulb is hottest - this will be the lightbulb that is controlled by the first switch. The other lit bulb will be controlled by the second switch and the third switch will control the lightbulb that is not lit.

How do you know the light is even on if you cant see it

turn them all on!

Being as cool as I am I would remove the cover plate and then use my screwdriver to identify witch wire is hot and then conclude witch switch controls the light. It should only be 120 volts, and that doesn't shock too bad, it kinda feelz goood. for any one who reads, let me clarify: there is one bulb and three swiches as explained by the riddle.

remembering from the last time you turned it on!

Every room has at least one window. So, I would turn on a switch then go outside and look at the window to see if the light is on. If not, I would try the second switch and so on.

My name is Billy Brite, so I am not stupid. Ha Ha. Besides, going up a set of stairs out of curiosity at my age,(74) is a real task!
