I got this as a Bulletin on Myspace. Is this true??!

Question: IF YOU SHOULD EVER BE FORCED BY A ROBBER TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM AN ATM MACHINE, YOU CAN NOTIFY THE POLICE BY ENTERING YOUR PIN # IN REVERSE.
FOR EXAMPLE: IF YOUR PIN NUMBER IS 1234, THEN YOU WOULD PUT IN 4321. THE ATM RECOGNIZES THAT YOUR PIN NUMBER IS BACKWARDS FROM THE ATM CARD YOU PLACED IN THE MACHINE.
THE MACHINE WILL STILL GIVE YOU THE MONEY YOU REQUESTED, BUT UNKNOWN TO THE ROBBER, THE POLICE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISPATCHED TO HELP YOU.
THIS INFORMATION WAS RECENTLY BROADCAST ON FOX TV AND IT STATES THAT IT IS SELDOM USED BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IT EXISTS.

Apparently, a guy patented the technology to do this, but no banks have embraced it.

This is the best article I could find:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4086277/

i have no idea, but it would be cool if it did work!

Carries a SCAM smell to me. I would say do not believe it.

To be honest I didn't read it but it looks like a bunch of bs writing someone must of been bored.

i dunno?

but i guess you could just try it for the hell of it.

no it's total bull****

Man if that did work, that would be awesome.

No it's not true, it's an old story that's been doing the rounds for years.

I doubt it. My whole family works for banks and I've never heard of this.

I've heard about this before, I just thought it was an urban myth

It sounds pretty convinsing!!! Never know

Snopes says false

Even if it were true if you repost it more people are going to know..robbers included.

Check www.snopes.com to find out if it has been posted there. Snopes will investigate and put an article on the website, giving their official verdict on the validity of the email.

In my personal opinion, I doubt that putting in your PIN backwards to your cell phone will alert the police to your dilemma.

Its not true go to the snopes link to read about it.

I very much doubt this is true. Your card has one PIN that will work for it. If you could enter your PIN backwards then you have two possible numbers that will work and if you lost your card the chances of somebody guessing the number are higher. If my PIN was 8971 and somebody stole my card and just randomly guessed 1798 they could take my money but they have not got the correct PIN, how can this be true!!

And it still gives you the money if you do this!? No way can this be true

Why do people call it your PIN number when PIN means personal identification number??

Absolutely untrue. I checked it out on <snopes.com>
