Why is only half the clock used in countdown?!

Because they use 30 seconds, not 60...

A funnier observation is that the show is called countdown, but they actually count up. Cos they use a clock, it's technically counting from 1 - 30 seconds, not 30 - 1. The hand should go the other way.
