It depends how much I've got to spend and how much you give me for the shopping (or how much you spend).
If I haven't got enough to cover the ￡14.55 worth of shopping, you may be kind enough to loan me the rest.
If I know how much I've got to start with I can work out how much change to give you from your loan.
But if I have enough money to cover the shopping, I would not need to borrow and you would still have your full ￡20.
Otherwise you've made a typo and the answer is ￡5.45.
