and decide to eat a meal together before parting ways, for it is lonely in these distant places, and one seldom meets another traveller!. One traveller has 5 loaves of bread, the second has 3 loaves of bread, and the third has no bread but offers to pay for his food with silver!. The three travellers share the eight loaves equally, and as the third man prepares to leave, he produces 8 silver pieces as payment for his food!. The question: what is the fairest way to distribute the 8 silver pieces between the first two travellers!. (Assume all eight loaves are of the same size and type, this isn't a trick question!.)
