You are given nine marbles equivalent in mass except one!. One of the marbles (and only one) weighs differently than all the others!. How can you find it using the balance scale TWICE (scale where you can put marbles on either side to see which side is heavier)Www@Enter-QA@Com


Answers:
Place 3 marbles on each tray!.
- If the first weighing doesn't balance, remove all the marbles from the lighter side, and place one marble on each tray from the heavier tray!. The heavier/lighter side is the different marble, but if they balance, then the marble from the heavier/lighter tray from the first weighing that was not weighed in the second weighing is the different one!.
- If the marbles balance on the first weighing, remove the marbles from the trays, and place 2 of the remaining unweighed marbles on the trays, one on each tray!. If one is lighter of heavier, it is the different marble, but if they balance, the remaining unweighed marble is the different one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Separate the marbles into groups of three's
place 3 on one side and another 3 on the other side of the scale
if one side is heavier then the other use that side and separate into groups of 1
place one marble on one side and another marble on the other!.!. if they balance then the marble remaining is the one that weighs differently but if one side is heavier then the marble is on the scale

If the tests with the 3x3 marbles balances the the remaining 3 marbles contains the different mass marble and single them out to find itWww@Enter-QA@Com

do you know if the differently weighted marble is heavier or lighter!? because then you would put three marbles on one side and three on the other!. if one side is heavier, take two of the marbles from that side and put them on opposite sides of the scale!. if one of those is heavier, that's your marble!. if they're the same, the one of the three you didn't put on is!. if the two sets of three weigh the same, take two of the marbles you didn't put on the scale!. if one is heavier, that's the one!. if they're the same, the one you've never put on the scale is the different marble!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

put 5 on each side, the heavier side you split into!.!.!.
