"When Janette is as old as Jan is now" tells us that Jan is older than Janette!.
I can't prove it, but I would say that Jan is the eldest, followed by Janette, and Janice is the youngest!.
In the second riddle, we should note that a peacock is a male (the female is a peahen), so it cannot be the source of the egg, so Alec's claim is denied!.
