How could he have noticed the watch stopped working AND wonder how many minutes since the watch been not working at the same time!.!.!.!? Hey wait a sec, that's impossible!. The hour hand (short hand) can't be pointing directly at twele if the minute hand (long hand) is pointing at 9!. The short hand would have to be inbetween the 12 and 1!.
