Can someone please explain this math joke?!

Question: Can someone please explain this math joke!?
Two math students, a boy and his girlfriend, are going to a fair!. They are in line to ride the ferris wheel when it shuts down!.
The boy says: "It's a sin for those people to keep us waiting like this!"
The girl replies: "No - it's a cosin, silly!!!"

****

I know they're making a play on words based on sine and cosine in trigonometry, but I don't understand exactly why the girlfriend says the guy is silly!. I don't know why waiting in line would be cosine instead of sine!. Maybe I'm trying to read too much into it, and maybe there's nothing more to interpret other than the reference to trig!?!?!?

Thanks!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm afraid you're right!. I think you're trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The explanation is that math people, while smart math wise, are not very funny- but they want to be funny, so they try!.

Still- not funny!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
